Cut-off Schedule for International Marine Shipment

Notices have been issued from different forwarders and shipping companies that the booking for international marine shipment will be cut off on Jan 20, 2020, due to the pandemic control in China.

Although this year's shipping costs have at least doubled over 2019, shippers have to wait over two weeks to get their cargos on board, -- there is too few container available in China! In sharp contrast, thousands of empty containers are piled up at major ports of the rest of the world. Since 85% of the markets outside China are haulted due to the pandemic, export from these infected areas nearly comes to a full stop and the circulation of containers is encountering unprecedented crisis. Shipping companies would rather carry empty containers than take the loaded ones, just to avoid tedious quarantine procedures. Yet, the profit of major shipping companies has achieved amazing growth by 200 - 300%.
